Kerry: The Gateways to Hell don't go to Hell at all: they go to the Abyss. Monsters don't guard the Gateway so much as they live in the freakin' Abyss, and don't take kindly to strangers intruding on their turf.
tcm: Yes I know they don't go to Hell, but that's what we've called them since we encountered the first one in Asophus' dungeon (the heads impaled on pikes were actually saying "This is the Gateway to Hell!")
