After a brief sail, the boys from Chrysopolis arrive at the town of Konstantia. As they pull into the dock, the harbor master waves them away. "Can't come in; super-leprosy," he explains. Arben has heard that song and dance before, and it seems this guy isn't on the level. He also has a bandage over his eye. Arben gives him a little of the old smooth talk and it turns out there's a bunch of danger in the town, and if they don't leave, everyone will get killed. They take him at his word and sail on.

Can sets up a Secure Shelter and they rest so that Ido can get some info on the haps in town. Their rest was not to be, as The Crimson Cutlass spies a pair of ladies dressed in the white robes of the Agathersi. He snags Arben, who is known for his ability to smooth things over with lunatics. Fortunately, they seem to not be raving lunatics, but instead are just asking for a little food and a place to rest their weary feet for a little bit. He invites them in and they introduce themselves as Ectarina and Yelena. Ectarina does the talking, as she is the one of the two that speaks Greek. When she removes her helmet, she reveals her bright blue hair. Arben recognizes dying your hair in this fashion as an old tradition in this area.

"Getting in touch with your roots, eh?"

They ask if they have seen their brother-in-arms Kosmin who has been lost in this area. He seems to match the description of the lunatic they encountered a couple of days ago. They mutter to themselves unhappily and thank them for the information.

They try to chat idly about the cave of Kogayon and the Bloodstone but the ladies seem to take it pretty seriously. They say that the lucky ones die in Kogayon; the unfortunate live. That's what happened to poor Kosmin. They recommend that, if the party is serious, they should go talk to Zombur Fotfrumous, the ruler of Transylvania. He knows a thing or two about a thing or two. They just have to go across the plains of Losco to a mountain range, his castle is up there.

The boys then explain that there's a little problem at the nearby town. They've got to figure out how to take care of it. If the ladies wouldn't mind hanging out while they check it out, it would be much appreciated.

Solevei agrees to their plan of sailing in shifts, half of the crew working through the day, the other half working at night. This ought to make them a tougher target for vampires. They press on towards the home of the mysterious Fotfrumous.
