After our sucessful exploits on the Elemental Plane of Fire we decide to press our luck and hit Evelake's house via his tuning fork while we have the chance. We first break Eorl's tuning fork and go back to C-town. Eorl goes into a frenzy, yelling "Commence Project Episilon!". Arben declines to accompany us on our mission, but Wirschen joins us instead. We then break Harald's tuning fork, taking us to the flagship of TrapoII's pirate fleet. We spell up and collect some stuff and people, and Harald learns that the Wand of Cadmus is not a sleep wand, but actually an awesome Rod of Passage. That is quite the lucky break. We are joined by Akim and TrapoII, and we then break Evelake's fork.
We find ourselves on a clifftop, with the sea below us. There are stairs going down, and a stable. The stable holds a giant beetle, a black pegasus, and two horses. A tree nearby is carved with names Thora (greek), Throkl (Norse), and Kefesna (Arabic). We talk to the horses, and learn that a guest is here, but Evelake hasn't yet returned. After disarming a trap we go downstairs. There we immediatley raise an alarm, and get into a big fight. Walid takes out a Super Eleven Bog Mummy solo while the rest of us beat up Thorkil, Kefesna (in the form of a giant beetle), and Lady Thora. Thorkil does manage to cut off Nali's arm and leg, but Harald gives him the last Golden Apple and he regrows them. At first his body can't take the strain, and he dies, but a Limited Wish by Harald gives him another chance, and he lives. Thora and Kefesna get away via Teleport or somesuch just as the guest shows up to mess with the rest of us. A lot of folks get Confused (permanently), and Mamun and Ailyll get mind-controlled and run out. A Blade barrier prevents us from following them, and the guest Teleports away. Harald realizes a round too late that it was none other than the Syrian, our nemesis.
Harald, Walid, and TrapoII are the only party members not Confused forever, so they decide "What the hell?", and go on to hack the rest of the dungeon. They find a trapped demon, a Salamander who "just works here", a shit-ton of leopards with snakes that grow out of thier backs (lethal poision, 7 snake bites a round + 4 claws + bite), and a bunch of ghouls and ghasts who seem to be janitors. We find the heavily trapped tomb of Lord Valdemar, and finally come into Evelake's library. Of course, he has another crazy snake/cat there, and it almost takes out Harald after putting everyone else to sleep. We kill the cat, and avoid fighting a 100 Hit Die Earth Elemental (Thanks, Wirschen and Pro Evil 10'!). Now we just have to go through Evelake's extensive library (500+ volumes) to find the books we need...
But hey, it turns out we have all the time in the world. After some hasting and such we speed read through a pile of books, and come up with the following:
- A Boccob's Blessed Book.
- A Manual of Stealthy Pilfering
- A Manual of Bodily Health(?)
- A Vacuous Grimoire that looks just like the Book of Moons
- A Manual of Stone Golems
- A book with some scrolls:
- Death Mask
- Bloodstone's Spectral Steed
- Mindfog
- Pebble to Boulder
- Book of (Vile Darkness or Ineffeble Damnation)
Walid proves worth more than his weight in gold by preventing every single ill effect from all these crazy books.
We give Nali the Rod of passage in a moment where he is lucid, and he Teleports to the Trap with Akim in tow and a lot of books in a sack.
Thorkil keeps trying to convince us to leave. We decide to finish off the dungeon first, so we go upstairs and kill off a giant bear with rams horns and wings. We loot the treasury, taking a pile of gold, one dose of Alexander body, some dust with "Pulova" written on it, a magical prism, and a magic pillow with a magic white stone flecked with red atop it. The pillow says "Brainvain + Caedrun" (Isuelt's maid and Tristran's pal) in a heart. We go next door and take out a demon that Evelake's mysterious red mist had summoned up. We head upstairs and kill the other two Bog Mummies, and meet Aleph. We make plans to meet him later, and then we vamoose, quite surprised at how well that went.
