Agav left Kiev in pursuit of Alexei Pervushka, apparently for the purposes of some personal vendetta. Instead, he found Nakula, Osk, and Slithra, who gave him news of Alexei's death. With no reason or desire to return directly to his homeland, stayed to offer his services to his newfound friends.
He practices Kievanism, and though he's not exceptionally devout, he's glad to be away from Prince Vladimir's drive towards Christianity.
