Kerry: How is July 30th, a Sunday?
Hal: optimally, I would like to run a brief (hour or two) session with each party before the battle proper, to get them to where they fight. This would give people a chance to learn their characters' strengths and weaknesses, use up some magic item charges, etc. It shouldn't take long. This may, however, prove a scheduling nightmare, and we can forgo it if necessary.
Maggie: I suggested my house for playing this game. We could accomodate Hal's request if we play at my house, since it's big enough so that people won't hear the opposing team practice-playing. While one team is playing their 2 hour practice chunk, the members of the other team can watch movies or check their e-mail or play with cats or take a nap. As for timing, July 30th sounds good to me, but I think we should start on Saturday and play all weekend, well into the night. What do you think?
tcm: it has to be a Sunday, and only a Sunday. since the actual battle will only take about five rounds anyway, the twi two hour pre-fights shouldn't make the session go all night, or any of that nonsense.
Maggie: Ah, I didn't realize about the shortness. Sundays are ok with me. July 30th then?
ET: Actually, can we wait until after Queens party's next session on July 16th? I want to make sure it doesn't fall on a date we want for Queens party.
ET: FYI - July 30th has been nixed as that's Nina's last day in town. And the next Queens party game is scheduled for Aug. 8th. Also, doesn't it make more sense to schedule and finish each team's practice session before scheduling the actual BR anyway?
Kerry: Why don't we do this before the Queens group game on the 8th? It won't take long, and most any Sunday both you and tcm are free you'll want to game. If this is a misconception on my part then you should suggest a date. As for practice rounds, Hal says an hour or two, so they should be easy to schedule as well. We can also forgo them if time is short.
Hal: If we wish to forgo our practice sessions, we can skip right to the battle on Sunday, August 20; I assume this is the last chance to get it done before I split for Japan, so it's probably 20th or September...
tcm: it's gonna be in September because i'm working on the 20th. sorry kids.
ET: If I haven't been clear before, let me state for the record that I absolutely do not want to skip the practice session, nor am I interested in having both teams practice the same day as the BR. I want to get familiar with the character and have time to strategize with the team.
Hal: Would Team A like to have a practice session on the 20th?
ET: tcm's working, which is why Queens Party isn't playing that weekend.
Hal: Right, but, since he is on Team X, he is not invited.
tcm: oh Hal, you scoundrel! you've ruined my carefully laid plans!
