Why have a bestiary when you just look up monsters in the compendium? I rather thought this was strongly frowned upon.
Noah: It is. To the extent, however, that Hal likely tailors TSR monsters to the realm, and also creates his own from whole cloth, we still need a bestiary. Besides, it is nobody's fault that Chris has the entire monster manual committed to memory.
tcm: yeah, but he probably shouldn't write it down. only what your characters know, kids.
Noah: It's cool, at least in this instance. He legend lored it.
tcm: well why didn't you say so? that's totally okay.
Chris: Besides, all of that stuff (other than incredibly evil) was observed by our characters. Or was implicit (the marked similarity between the Eye Of The Deep and the Spectator).
Halifax: Of course, the Eye of the Deep you guys fought lacked pincers...
Noah: Not that it would have had a chance to use them anyway.
Chris: Yeah, the only thing that thing lacked was a snowball's chance in hell...am I right? Am I right? High fives all around.
Halifax: It could have used them to shield its eye.
