The Danger Gang Auxiliary Fights A Cyclops

The rain has slightly abated, so the Danger Gang Auxiliary pressed on in their mission to rescue Halcyon and Solevei. Unfortunately, the rain did not abate as much as they had thought, and poor Capt. Eustwice is overcome. The mast of the Iris snaps in twain. They row the boat ashore and chop down a tree for a fresh mast. The sun sets and they're all pretty tired, so they decide to install the mast and press on in the morning.

It is not a quiet evening, however. During Xenon's first watch, he hears a loud clumping. He wakes the others and Eorl tells the lower level characters to take cover. Eorl scuttles to the top of the tree and sees a Cyclops wandering through the wood; the look on his face implies that he's looking for trouble. Eorl hides in shadows and waits for the lumox to wander by. He leaps from the tree top, his sword pointed squarely at the Cyclops's back. Unfortunately, he fails to penetrate the giant's thick hide, and manages merely to annoy the giant. He turns around and smacks him with his giant club. Xenon rushes to the fray and does his utmost to take on the cyclops. The cyclops starts beating the crap out of him with his club. The spell casters step up and start shooting volleys of Magic Missiles at the interloper. With the help of Oeonoe's prayer, they soon put a massive hurt on the guy, and he crashes to the ground. Everyone goes back to bed.
