Quiteria grew up as a Priestess of Loth in the Underdark. As her power grew her mother grew jealous and eventually tried to kill her. She barely escaped, exploding her heart and leaving behind her home forever. She wandered, wounded and blind, and was rescued by a Christian monk who brought her back to his monastery. As the monks nursed her back to health, she was impressed at how their cohesion and accordance to law allowed even these weak beings to maintain a much more functional society than the one she was accustomed to. Rather than massacring the monks as she had originally planned, she renounced her old faith and converted to Christianity. She was particularly interested in the lore she heard about the second coming of Christ, and studied this extensively.
She gained power within her new religion and eventually founded her own convent on the outskirts of Rome, where she and her followers waited for the second coming. Don't try to teleport there.
Hearing of strange happenings at Count Ruodlieb's castle, she traveled there in her Nun-borne palanquin to investigate. Shortly after arriving the skies open up, trumpets sound and angels sing, announcing the second coming. His name is Harald and he is an Elf! As if by fate she soon meets Alfodd, with whom she feels a strange affinity, like a long-lost brother. He promises to take her to Harald.
