Months after the big blow-out with his old man, Karl Jr. returned home with his new wife and brother-in-law determined to make amends. Unfortunately he found his father’s shop closed with a note posted in the window: “Gone forever! Off to join the The Danger Gang!” (was the gist of the picture his father had drawn).

A little investigation led him to Chrysopolis, where he and his family signed on with Eorl while waiting for Karl, Sr.’s return.

His father taught him gem appraisal, but he also knows a certain amount of illusionist spellcraft from his mother, even though he could never become an illusionist himself (poor Karl, Jr. -- his dex was too low for the minimum requirement).
