The Danger Gang Auxiliary Learns That Halcyon Is Shipwrecked
The Nicomedean Dandies' moms show up bright and early to pick up their wayward boys. They claim to have heard that Bardas Phocas is somewhere in Asia Minor. Eorl thanks them and sends the boys on their way. He then tracks down Oeonoe so they can scry on people, see how they're doing. First they check on Halcyon. Halcyon is with Solevei, both dressed in rags. Halcyon digs up a tuber and they eat it. The two of them realized they are being scryed on and start trying to signal that they want to get picked up. Unfortunately, they leave no clue where he is.
Oenoe then tries to scry on Artaky, but there's no luck. Naum is hanging out with Cigne, fighting some skeletons in a church.
Eorl and Arben realize they'll need to track down Halcyon. They head down to the harbor and ask the harbor master if he's heard anything about the Swordfish sinking. He says he hasn't heard anything, but he'll keep and ear open. Abner asks the seagulls the same thing and gets the same response. The seagulls do tell him, however, about a Magnetic Mountain in the Red Sea that sucks up any ship with iron nails and cannibals there eat up the sailors that crash there. They also heard about a Giant Octopus that dragged down a ship in the Mediteranean, but that was a month ago. Still, disturbing news. They also track down a merman. The merman says he didn't hear anything about the ship crashing, but says he heard about the Swordfish sailing into the Mediteranean.
Later on, envoys from the Thieves Guild Of Calpe arrive, as requested earlier. Norwit, Margareta, and Patricius all sit with them in Oeonoe's vineyard. They shoot the shit about what's been happening, share rumor table rolls with one another. Nobody's dead and the meeting goes OK. Eorl and Norwit discuss a prediction Norwit for from the Oracle a whiles back. They know it partains to Eorl, but that's about it. or at least that's all Nortwit's saying. With that, everyone shakes hands and parts ways; the relations still seem to be going OK.
Arben returns to The Governor's Mansion Inn to find his help wanted ad has been filled and his bar has earned a few regular patrons (he gained 34 followers for reaching 9th level). Oeonoe has also gotten her congregation off the ground, with 114 worshippers getting drunk and doing their utmost to ruin the good PR Chrysopolis has been developing. Eorl asks her to do a little more scrying. They scry on Ruth who is playing dice with Constantine, Basil II's brother. They're outside a tent in a mountainous region in Asia Minor. They also scry on Martha Mad Eye, who's talking to a seven and a half foot tall Arabian gentleman with a beard and scimitar. Martha detects the scry and the dude disappears.
Meanwhile, Arben has done a little research. He hits up a few vegetable salesman to see if he can identify the tuber that he saw Halcyon eating. It grows on a few islands in the Euxine.
Unfortunately, there are no other leads from the harbor master or the seagulls. They're going to need some more scrying from Oeonoe if they're going to track him down, and she's going to need to rest if she wants to memorize it again. Eorl goes to take care of some paper work while Arben whiles away a few hours playing games with B The Beholder.
