Center of the Shiite dynasty of Hamdan. Under Hamdanid control (a few weeks in 962 excepted) since 956.

Called Haleb ("milked" in Arabic) because Abraham once milked his cows here; Aram Soba in Hebrew.

The walls of Aleppo are 165’ tall and 100’ wide, surrounded by a moat 65’ deep

Current emir is Junayd, called Sayf al-Dawlah after his father, Sayf al-Dawlah Abu al-Hasan ibn Hamdan. His cousin, Basma disappeared from Aleppo and is currently with Harald.
