Herein one may find rules change proposals. Vote for or against in the Discussion, and limit use of this page for the proposals themselves.
- (PROP A.) Druids shall use the clerical XP table, starting when the Rule is enacted. Thus your next level would be gained when you get enough XP for the clerical next level. This would be a long time for either of the current druids in play.
- (PROP B.) Hal shall devise a fair and equitable method of assigning stats without dice, to be used henceforth for all new characters.
- (PROP C.) Druids shall fight leveling duels after reaching each new level. The nature of the duel is to be up to the combatants.
- (PROP D.) 20 and 1 are no longer automatic success or failure.
- Why this is important:
- I have always found it galling that given a sufficiently low AC or THAC0 all characters have the same chance to hit. If you are fighting Indra, with AC -12, then Hush (THAC0 22) and Agav (THAC0 14) have the same odds of landing a blow: 5%. Likewise, when Starkad (AC 5, THAC0 -12) and Bardas Phocas (AC -6, THAC0 -5) get in a fight they both have the same odds of missing: 5%. This is frustrating, because in most encounters your THAC0 and your target's AC matter. The same goes for saves, ability checks, and what have you. At very high and very lower odds everyone has the same chance, regardless of how different their respective bonuses/penalties are. Therefore I propose a system whereby a 20 almost always hits, and a 1 almost always misses, save in the extreme cases. It will involve a little extra math, but only 5% of the time.
- Why this is important:
- How this would work, ruleswise:
- I propose that when anyone rolls a 20 or 1 they then reroll the die, adding (20) or subtracting (1) from the previous result. A 20 on your secondroll means that you simply keep the original roll. Therefore you can only "explode" once, and you cannot get a total higher than 39 (20, then 19) or lower than -18 (1, then 19).
- Examples:
- Hush needs to roll a 20, then a 14 or better to hit Indra (odds: 1.5%), while Agav needs a 20, then a 6 or better (odds: 3.5%). Likewise, Starkad misses Phocas with a 1, followed by a 8 or more (odds: 3%), but Phocas misses Starkad with a 1, then a 12 or more (odds: 2%). When you are checking the odds, remember that on the second roll a 20 means that you simply keep your intital roll.
