More Heads Than We Know What to do With
As night falls, we make the final preparations for our attack on Jamila's compound. Ailyll summons a hurricane and some lightning and enlarges four elephants to serve as our mounts. We sneak around back to check things out while the elephants stand out front waiting to charge. Harald detects some well-hidden folk lurking in a corner - a very muscular and well-oiled man, a veiled lady with pretty eyes, and an ape lying on it's back waving its hands and feet around. The pretty lady is casting a spell, and we aren't taking any chances, so Ailyll blasts her with a bolt of lightning. This pisses the guy off a lot, but luckily she makes her save and is merely reduced to -10. We talk, and discover that this is not Jamila but rather some thieves trying to sneak in and steal her golden apples. The woman is named Sit the Beautiful, and the ape is a polymorphed cleric who can cast two spells at once using both his hands and feet. They seem somewhat disinclined to join us in an all-out attack, but offer to exchange a raise dead spell for one of the apples should we come across them.
Finding nothing especially exciting in the back we decide to have the main force attack from the front while our sneaky thieves sneak in around back. We come crashing in and are immediately confronted by an earth elemental. It doesn't last long against our awesome elephant force, and we push on. Our elephants nimbly avoid the quicksand barrier and come crashing into Jamila's pretty garden. Many of the trees suddenly turn into people and monkeys, and they come to swarm the elephants. They are soon joined by a gigantic hasted ugly woman and a horrible mantis monster. Someone is shooting spells at us from the house, and manages to dispell Ailyll's lightning before she gets to strike again. The hordes of humans and monkeys finally manage to wear down our poor elephants, and Ailyll catches the remainder in a wall of thorns. Meanwhile the thieves are waylaid by a giant moving tree, but they catch it on fire and hack it to pieces before it can swallow any of them. They successfully backstab a mage who was hiding in the back and come up to join the party, leaving Indira to guard the door. Harald and Walid beat the giant lady to submission and resist a whole bunch of spells, but Walid is knocked to a negative and has to be healed up while the others chase down the mantis and the few remaining monkeys. We are not at all surprised as Jamila suddenly materializes in front of us with a bunch of pretty lady heads tied to her belt. She touches Harald and makes him vanish, much to our dismay, but we all rush in to the fight. She swings her nasty sword and decapitates herself, but nimbly catches the head and replaces it on her body. Mamun is polymorphed into a turtle and TrapoII is beheaded, but we manage to hold our own and beat her down. Turtle Mamun finds he can still use his nifty ring to cast flame strike, and we are about to strike the finishing blow when Jamila puts on her priest head and casts word of recall.
