Ellylw (pronounced eh-chlai-lu) is Welsh and was raised by her parents in a small fishing village off the coast. At the age of 14 she was married to a Norseman and returned with him to his home. She lived happily with him for several years, but was unable to fulfill her wish of having a child of her own. After her third child was stillborn she wandered away from the village in shock and stumbled over a cliff into the sea. She was rescued by some kindly water sprites, who cared for her and nursed her back to health. She lost all memory of her former life and wandered aimlessly through the woods for several days before stumbling upon a group of Druids celebrating the coming of the solstice. She joined in their dancing, and followed them home afterward. The Druids cared for her for many years, and taught her their ways, until at last she decided to set out on her own in search of adventure. Hearing of their quest to save the world from a watery end, she joined Ailyll and her party and set off to discover new lands.
