Kithro

Grand druid.

Great druid of Ireland in the Third Century and then, after entering hibernation during the chaos following the death of Finn, again in the Fifth. His defeat in spiritual combat by Patrick brought him to fall back onto his old ploy of hibernation "until a dragon lights on Eire" (i.e. forever, such was his despair). In 955 just such an unprecedented event came to pass, and the wakened Kithro, with his knowledge of ancient, unwritten, and all but forgotten druidic practices, rose through the decimated ranks to the coveted grand druid position, which he has held for years. His reign has seen a tightening of regularity in druidic practice, in conformity, Kithro insists, with ancient custom, and also a last rear-guard attempt to stem the tide of newer religions.
