After a quiet night's rest in a monastery on Athos, the Danger Gang Auxiliary climb Mt. Athos to reunite with ol' man Olympiadorus. Wirshin casts Locate Object for gold and they start looking around for the treasure. After a couple hours, his spider sense starts really tingling, and the boys start to dig. They find a box with about twelve hundred gold, five hundred silver, two pieces of amber, and three fancy looking arrows. They convince Olympiadorus to trade his share of arrows for their share of gems.

These arrows are wooden, with bronze heads that look like asterisks from the front. No one knows what they do. (Do you?)

They ask Olympiadorus about his future plans; he has none. Arben convinces the ol' treasure hunter to come spend his newfound moderate fortune at The Governor's Mansion Inn.

They head back down to the monastery, as people are kind of interested in finding out what the deal is with the captured demon they got in there. Arben turns on the patented charm and talks him into allowing them to talk to the hound of hell. The monk leads the gang down to the basement. Behind a locked door they find a dog-faced demon, with pincers for hands and hands for nipples, sitting in a chalk circle. She says that her name is Andromache, and that she was a princess of Thessali who was cursed for bathing somewhere; cursed to become a demon. She says sunlight can reveal her true form.

The gang decides to call her bluff, and arrange for a series of mirrors to be placed leading down to the basement. It seems flashes of light do make this thing turn into a lady (but these things can be tricky). They ask her for ways to find out if she's telling the truth. She says she once loved a man with a mole on his face who lived in a village outside of Faray. Also, she might be recognized by Admitus the Deathless king of Thessali. They agree to look into it, but Andromache seems resigned to her fate and skeptical. Cyril seems especially sympathetic to her plight (having been mistaken for a demon himself in the past) and argues that every minute she's imprisoned is a crime. Eorl and Arben eventually calm him down enough by promising one and all that they are going to do so much research about this. They are even en route to the Oracle of Didima, and he's sure Cyril can find out the proper course of action from her.

And so they bid adieu to Athos. Next stop: Ephisius.
