Details of the Diaspora of the tribe of Dan
From Record Of Fantasy Adventure Venture
Found in a genizah on the northernmost island of Denmark.
In summary: Dan was the mariner of the sons of Israel, and the Dannites kept leaving home on explorations. Furthest reported reaches: the endless steppes of the north and east: the jungles of the south and west. Some Dannite mercenaries fought in the Trojan War, became proverbial for valor, and their name adopted by Homer for the Achaean side. Then, in days of Jeroboam, tribe refused to shed the blood of a brother (i.e. Judah), and left en masse. Looked in Hellas, but all Dannites had been assimilated. Left, went up the Danube. Found among the northern islands, ancient Hebrew chronicles kept by descendents of Japheth (now lost); they had encountered the first settler of the land, Shild Shephin, a bastard born on Noah's ark and set adrift; landed on the shores of this nameless land and raised by the animals, so he spoke the purest Hebrew. Dannites mix with the locals, vow never to give up their customs or religion.
to this history the following addendum is scrawled:
Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishook? Or press down his tongue with a cord? It turns out that Thor can! So we are giving up. Those who wish to continue 'shaking hands with Abraham' have headed to the West, where they have vowed to keep faithful in a new, healthful promised land they hear lies thataway, among a people known as the Tuatha. Perhaps they will never compromise as we have had to.
