Fighting Rays, Hanging with Bevis, and a Successful Rescue
We go back to fight the rays some more, but they are clever and take us out. Ailyll gets Feebleminded, and Harald fails a Color Spray save. We get out by the skin of our teeth. We run around trying to get Ailyll Healed, but the Holy Romans are "too busy". Then we try to teleport to Elfland, but end up in a giant crystal hamster ball in a well decorated room. A lich walks in and starts cackling and rubbing his hands together, so we Teleport back out, this time to Powys in Wales. We start heading over to the Druidic headquarters when we hear a disembodied voice, saying "I'm Bevis of Hampton." We shoot the shit with Bevis and his party for a bit. They are in town looking to kill the English King, Aethelred. He's hooked up with a weird anti-druid, a leprechaun, a giant, and so on. He also has a creepy priest named Asophis.
We part ways, then go off to see the Druids. They say Ailyll has been cursed by the Tree for pissing off Demeter, and she had better do one of those stupid side quests before she starts losing spells. P.S., they won't Heal her. The creepy priest says he can hook us up with a Heal if we go and kill Bevis after he kills Aethelred. We pretend to think it over.
After some more jive we meet up with Bevis and Co. once again. He has to go back to his kingdom in Armenia, and wants to say goodbye. Asophis freaks out, because he wants to go kill the king, right now. He reveals himself to be a lich and we fight. He Word of Recalls after a few hits. The anti-druid, though he would not Heal Ailyll, is quite happy to fix up our badly wounded dinosaur friend who just turned up. We make a date to see Bevis in Armenia in a week, then we bug out back to the boat. We prep for Ithithixacaxtl round 3, and then teleport into their midst.
Predictably, a big fight follows. We do better than before, wiping them all out, even their high-level spellcaster boss. We finish the battle in OK shape, so we press on to save our companions from Boojibba, ancient Maltese fat lady water goddess. Indeed, she is in the next room, and we fight. We win without any deaths on our side, and free Rani and Pickety Pockety. A short rest, and then we're back on the boat.
