King Adils

Eighth-century Swedish king who tried to trap Hrolf Kraki in his deadly palace, then chased him across the fens of Fyrisvellir. Hrolf Kraki scattered gold behind him, which Adils's soldiers stopped to gather, and a magic ring; when Adils bent to claim the ring, Hrolf Kraki stabbed him in the back and crowed, "I have bent the back of the most poweful man in Sweden."
Adils got better.
