Found inside a decomposing leather bag buried in a muddy bank within a cave beneath the Propontis, laying beside rusted armor and sword. Also contained in the bag was Orders to Stop Sheenie Dhu Nuwas.

Abraha, General of His Most Glorious Emperor Caleb Hellesthaeus of Axum, to His
Holiness Papa Symmachus, Episcopus Romanus, greetings!

Your holiness is perhaps aware that the Jew Joseph Dunuas has usurped the throne of
Himiara and has been assiduously persecuting our Christian brethren, culminating in the
infamous massacre in Nairan and the even bloodier and more bloodthirsty massacre of
3,000 Axumites at Zaphara; and that, not content to let blood flow throughout his own
kingdom, has been alternately begging or demandmg that the Arabs and Persians follow suit.
The pagan Arabs, especially the Koreis of Mekia, have been very receptive, and more
about them later; however, the Arabs of Alira, who long have been a friend to the
Christians, being exceptionally learned and the creators, or rediscoverers as they would
have it, of the curious writing of the Arabs, passed Dunuas' petition on to the Roman
Emperor Justin, and the Christian lands of the north were made aware of what we in the
south had already learned, that a veritable anti-Christ sought to raise the world against
   the Lamb of God.

Iustinus Basileus and Imperator responded with the alacrity befitting a hoary and
sagacious Christian ruler, and sent a fleet from Alexandria to help the Christian forces
of Axum. Insofar as these two mighty empires are united against a petty king, there is little
for you, or us, to fear. But there is another matter, which, Your Holiness may perceive,
   factors in...

The pagan Arabs of Mekia, it may have reached Your Holiness's attention, worship a black
stone harvested millennia ago from the rubble of Babel, a stone of great power and
properly a biblical relic, but believed to be the god Kronos by the benighted Arabs.
This idol fills me with an especial distaste, for the idolaters have housed it in a most
ancient church of the Lord, built over a well by my holy namesake; and notwithstanding the
ignorance of the Koreis of the true provenance of the stone, it is an item of great power
and danger, and should the Koreis decide to join with Dunuas, or should any enemy of
Christendom possess the stone, may the Lord have mercy on his children! However, I have
heard from the sailors of the Basilesus that Your Holiness possesses another fragment of
Babel, and not one of the innumerable detritus fragments one sees lying around, but a true
piece, in which lies power. It was brought to Rome in the times of ignorance under the
guise of the pagan goddess Meteroreie, in time to defeat Hannibal, and the Romans were
   thereafter unopposable in battle.

Although this humble general can hardly command the successor of Peter, and it would be
unseemly for a subject of the mighty Hellesthaeus to beg, perhaps Your Holiness can see
that it might be in his best interest to see that the stone that is in Christian hands
prevents the stone that is in pagan hands from being brought into play. This might be the
time when the Christian nations have a chance of finally displacing the idolaters; the
   chance lies with you.

   I remain,
   Your obedient servant,
   Abraha
