Olga had achieved a decent rank in the thieves guild in Novgorod, but as rumors spread of a zombie army amassing in the north she saw the writing on the wall, grabbed her three sons and fled. A recent widow (her husband, also a thief, was killed in a skirmish with the constabulary), she had no interest in seeing any more bloodshed and went south with the intention of settling in Kiev. She arrived to find that the city was already overpopulated with thieves following the departure of the Bogatyrs and decided to continue on to Constantinople. There, the native Russian community which had become desperate to maintain their good image in the city following Vladmir’s arrival, pressed her to move on to Chrysopolis if she wanted to practice her trade. She went only reluctantly, knowing that she would stick out in smaller cities in the Greek lands, but was much relieved to discover that the Lieutenant Governor not only spoke Russian, but seemed to be gathering a lot of shifty characters around him.
Having been born to thief parents, Olga considers thieving a perfectly acceptable (if inconveniently criminal) vocation, and was perfectly happy to sign on to Eorl’s strange version of a guild, even if its primary function seemed to be keeping other guilds out of the city so commerce could flourish. Clearly, with all the eccentric persons and creatures casually doing their strange business around town, combined with the city’s reputation for occasional monsterism (which, to be fair, was not entirely uncommon in Novgorod), there was something else going on. Olga wants no part of it, however. She is perfectly happy to care for her baby and for her and her two sons to be Thief Takers and live a happy, peaceful life in Chrysopolis.
