The Danger Gang Auxiliary Begin The Trek To The Serpent Road
The Danger Gang is roused by a terrible shriek as a bat comes flying in to the barn where they rest. All are overwhelmed by the horrible noise, except for Cyril who brandishes his newfound Holy Avenger against their foe. There is a lot of missing between the two of them, but the forces of good eventually take the day. They make a quick stop at Castle Ovadu, where Arben drops off a note apologizing for their inability to return, but they currently have an artifact in their possession that might not be welcome in her home, but he hopes to be able to visit her again soon. They walk back to castle town to see if they can find a guide through the mists, and they do in the form of Mirella, a lone gypsy woman. Arben negotiates her services as a native guide and gets her to agree to not rob the others until they're all on their way out. They tell her they want to go to Arthropodia, and she really doesn't want to go in there, but she agrees to lead them to the border. She says there are three territories that border both Dumatrescu and Arthropodia, each with their own problems. There's the Circle of Agony, which, needless to say, is terrible. It's run by a group of undead called The Circle Of Agony, but, despite how it sounds, they don't run an underground fighting tournament there. They just make everything terrible. The second option is a new Barony that was founded by newly minted Death Knight, Luanna. While this has the advantages of being comparably small, it has the disadvantage of having a whole mess of shadows and a Death Knight that probably hates us. The last option is The Serpent Road, which is where they last saw Dr. Stupiferous and is rumored to be run a Dracolich named Zmura. However, the Dracolich has no particular beef with us, and Stupiferous proved to be no great shakes, so they decide to take The Serpent Road.
They start the walk. Out of the mists (not crazy mists, but normal mists) appear a half-dozen hell hounds. There is much fighting. Costicu shows up at the last minute to stab the last Hell Hound, stealing Cyril's glory. He tells them he's got a lead on another artifact for the gang; the bl**d st*n* itself. They tell him it's probably a phony that they're not interested. Instead they press on.
The sun begins to set, and Mirella asks them where they plan on resting. They explain that the nearest town would be great. She explains that the nearest town is about five hours away. They agree that it would be better to keep going then to rest out here.
It is then that a man wearing ill-fitting, filthy Agathersi armor comes out of the woods. He says his name is Yanos, and tells them they'll never make it to town. It's dangerous outside at night. They would probably be better following him back to his cave in the middle of the woods. Cyril seems game, but he rest of the crew is adamantly against this idea. It becomes a point of contention, but Cyril ends up agreeing, grudgingly.
A few hours later they successfully arrive in town and are able to rest, all without interruption.
