The Danger Gang Gets Burned Up By A Crypt Keeper
After an uneasy night's rest, the Danger Gang realizes they'll need to reunite with their hired muscle if they plan to continue fighting their way through this dungeon. Martialis casts Obscurement so that they can sneak by the remaining Eyewings. They soon reunite with Vjk Skullhammer and Tobin, who has finally gotten over his paralyzation. They dress Tobin up in the fancy plate mail they got from the tomb and then prepare to face the Eyewings.
They head back to the platform and Tobin hops down, ready to fight. With his muscle and brand new armor, the Eyewings are quickly defeated. They head into the next room and Vjk sees the slab of meat. "Oh, that was probably Karp," he says. It seems the skeleton guy in the next room is bad news if he took Karp out like this, but, luckily, Arben has a plan. He puts on the nice clothes that Eorl gave him, and dons the crown and shield that they grabbed from the coffin. They walk up to the door Vjk says the creepy skeleton guy is behind. Martialis proclaims in a clear tone, "Intoducing, his imperial highness, Antipater the Twentieth!" and Arben plays a brief trill on his horn before openning the door.
Arben opens the door to find a creepy, disheveled form wearing a ratty old crimson robe and hood. "I am Emperor Antipater the Twentieth and I am here to reclaim the royal treasures that are rightfully mine! State your name and lead me to the treasure!" Arben says to the hooded figure. The figure then begins babbling about this, that, and the other. He doesn't want to tell his name. He wants Arben to bring his friends into the room. He laughs maniacally. Basically he acts really creepy and shifty, so Arben leaves. He says they'll be back in a few hours, and when they return, he's going to want answers. They then go camp out in the room with the slice of Karp, so that they can rememorize appropriate spells. Unfortunately, before they can finish resting, the old Crypt Keeper kicks open the door and shootsa gout of flame at everyone. He laughs maniacally again and shambles away. Vjk does not survive the inferno. Arben and Toben are both in a bad way. Martialis drags them back to the room with the platform, but isn't strong enough to lift them up on the far side. He grabs the Horn of Many Potions and decants a potion of gaseous form and a potion of levitation for Arben and Tobin respectively. They run back to the Doodya, who begrudgingly allow them to camp with them for one more night.
