The Danger Gang Is Hot On The Trail Of The Cat People
After a brief nap, Martialis summons a couple of dogs to get on the scent of the cat people, but they find nothing. Padre Pantalone swings by the inn to check on the ailing Danger Gang. He and Sergia are able to cast Cure Disease (to clear up the curse of the Geletons on Lleryn and Barry Ceasefire, but Kotrag will have to wait. Not a problem for him, being such a tough guy. So Marty, Barry, Can and Karl return to the Church of St. George.
They head back down to basement to check out the ornately carved sarcophagus they saw before they left. They pry open the lid and find...a staircase...going down! They'll get back to those; first they need to take care of this floor. They run into that tiger they saw before, but this time Marty is able to befriend it. He does a little speak with animals and learns that he was brought here by Snowflake and that the cat people probably had two spellcasters.
They go down the stairs in the sarcophagus. It leads to a long hallway (more than a mile) ending in a fifteen by fifteen foot room. Karl sneaks in ahead to make sure there's no trouble, but he's spotted by the four Margoyles that were hanging out in there. They beat the living shit out of him, but the rest of the party rushes to his rescue. A Web from Can slows them down enough so that an Enlarged Barry can save him. A Fumble and a Lightning Bolt takes care of the rest. In the Margoyle room there's a trap door in the ceiling. Marty and Can go up and it leads into a house. It turns out to be a house in the suburbs north of Rome. Marty investigates in the form of a bat and finds a broken statue and some papers on a table. He grabs one of the papers and he and Can go back down.
Turns out, the paper is a map. Very exciting stuff. They catch some shut eye.
When they head back up, the other papers from the table are gone as is the statue. They check around the rest of the house, but find nothing of note. Marty flies back to town to grab the Circus De Jerkus and they all convene in the house to discuss their next step.
