The Danger Gang says goodbye to Abados and hello to a cyclops
After another restful night at the finest inn in Abados the Danger Gang prepares to sail for Filipe. Their boat, unfortunately, won't be able to fit their horses, so Arben tries to sell them off to the local horse merchant. Unnfortunately, his gift of gab does not serve him well, and he's only able to get 150 gold for the five of them. Arben then explains that if he finds this horse dealer selling off these same horses for more than 75 gold each, he will murder him.
After that debacle, everybody heads down to the docks, where they're introduced to their captain, Captain Proteus, the old man of the sea. He tells them they should be arriving in Filipe in three days, should the winds favor them. He explains that they could either hug the coast, where it is more likely that they'll be attacked by sea monsters, or they could take the indirect route, where they could still get attacked by monsters. They opt for the direct route. They set sail while the winds still favor them. They cruise past the island of Imbrose to the west, looking forward to an uneventful sail.
However, that night during Arben's watch, he spies a nasty looking cyclops trecking through the forrest. The one eyed behemoth has spotted the ship as well. Arben quickly whips out his stone of continual darkness in an attempt to cloak the ship, but due to the light cast by the near-full moon, the ship now appears to be a floating, inky black semi-sphere. Arbem wakes up Martialis and Arben right as a boulder comes crashing through the deck. Arben stuff the stone back in its satchel to see the cyclops grinning menacingly from the shore.
Arben and Ramble start furiously scrambling to hoist the sail. However, the one-eyed brute throws another stone, knocking Ramble unconscious and scuttling the ship. "Abandon ship" yells Captain Proteus. Martialis slings Arben's stone of continual darkness at the cyclops in order to distract him as everyone boards the life raft. They start rowing directly away from shore, and Martialis casts obscurement. They row away until morning.
