The Patriarch: Returned!

Can and the Patriarch arrive in Chrysopolis via Can's amazing Teleportation. Eorl immediately starts hectoring the Patriarch; telling him not to offend cats anymore and to give the Crazy Cat Lady a job. The Patriarch responds that he has no tongue, and so is, therefor, in no position to discuss the matter. Eorl offers the Patriarch the scroll of regeneration they have saved up for just such an occasion, but the Patriarch respectfully declines, explaining he can have his own people take care of it instead of this ancient Jew magic. They bring the old boy back across the river and the next thing you know, he's grown his tongue back.

The Patriarch can finally recount his tale of woe. It seems the leader of the Cat People was creatively named Puff, and he was indeed a douche. They also stole the book that lists the once and future emperors of the Byzantine Empire. Rome offered Elfina absolution in exchange for holding the Patriarch (clearly confusing her for a Vrolakis).

The Patriarch now gets down to the issue of rewarding his rescuers. Eorl gets Karl on the phone with Magic Mirror (as Kotrag seems to have redeveloped his distaste for all things magical). Karl wants gemstones, tons of gemstones. Kotrag asks for Hush to gain her sight. The Patriarch might explains that since she's been blind since birth, she will probably go insane. Hush agrees that she's willing to risk it. They also ask the Patriarch if he can Commune to find out where the Crown of Dido is. Turns out it's in the Dwarven Kingdom of Domdaniel. He then sends out an Aerial Servant to pick up Hush and Kotrag.

Can sets about recopying Haste from Nicephorous.

The rest of the gang begins to sail north for Ilyria.
