    Archimedes' tomb was constructed according to the great man's wishes, and following his 
    plans, under the command of [[M. Claudius Marcellus]]. Archimedes had requested magnes to 
    be piled in the tomb, but, the difference being ill-understood at the time, magnesia was 
    substituted.  in all other ways the tomb conformed to Archimedes' design, which admittedly 
    he had not had a chance to finalize or test.  [[M. Tullius Cicero]] is known to have visited 
    the site, and declaimed thereat an oration that was probably pretty good.
