Legendary Russian witch who lives in a hut that runs around on chicken legs. Very powerful and known to be an associate of Igwolf. Has an extraordinary appetite and is capable of finishing off an entire village's cattle herd. Known to Russians as "the Grandmother".

Baba Yaga must be approached with utmost respect, humility and honesty. The Byzantine Envoys were told that they must not leave a mess, be nosy or touch anything that belongs to her. By following these rules, they were able to gain information about Igwolf, dispose of the Black Sword, and obtain cures for Anna and Ivan. The only price she exacted was that in exchange for curing Ivan, he, or whoever he passes the geas on to, must go on a quest to bring her the Staff of the King of Cats, which Snowflake, the current King of Cats, is also seeking. Jean-Claude volunteered to take on the quest and left the Byzantine Envoys.

Baba Yaga should not even remotely be considered an ally. She is neutral at best and should be considered dangerous.

Baba Yaga seems to regard the Duchess Anna Ivanovna with some enmity, although the reason is unknown.
