The city of marvels. Large walls have helped defend Thessaloniki from Bulgar invaders. There are several areas of note.

  • A ruined hippodrome that has been out of use since the 4th century, ever since Theodosius slaughtered spectators there.
  • The Galarean, a series of municipal bnuildings erected in the Roman era, some still in use.
  • The Statue of Ikero Poretos, which has no hands.
