Arben et al. arrive back in Chrysopolis to find in Eorl in his usual tizzy.
"What did you find? What did you accomplish? What have you been doing?"
"Nothing, Eorl. It was a bust. New plan; get Barnacle Bashim."
"Perfect."
Eorl has been working on a plan. He postulates that they can use Charon's Cup against Bashim. They'll sneak in the backdoor. Joshua.
They check in with god on this plan. God says it is pretty good, but they should watch out for surprises. They also might have a secret ally. The popular theory is that this might be Ol' Man Morkoth. Other details include that Bashim might have hooked up with some kind of undead, he might have an underground lair.
They go ask a merman if there's any word on the where abouts of Bashim or the Morkoth. They don't know about Bashim, but Morkoth has apparently recently migrated. About the same time Bashim did.
Curious.
