Dansha is Olga's younger son and Borevin's little brother. He took his father’s death very hard, and whereas he was already the quietest member of the family, the tragedy nearly turned him into a mute. He had always been happiest by himself, climbing trees in Novgorod and watching the city unfold before him over the course of the day, and his parents didn’t discourage this; after all, a good lookout was always a welcome addition to a thieves guild. Born to a different family, Dansha would have surely become a scholar. Indeed, such was his interest, he had managed to teach himself basic Greek during their trip south by hanging around the clergymen who were now becoming more common in the Russian countryside. Most of his time in Chrysopolis is spent watching little Bobug, and while he initially resented the intrusion, he was happy to make himself useful… and if it helped his mother worry less, so much the better.
