The Danger Gang ganks a ghost, then gets ganked
After a relazing night in the cave of The Brown One, the Danger Gang awakes ready to investigate into the case of the missing Zadok. They walk over to the pit of the Phantom Sheet while The Brown One laments their lack of sense.
Martialis casts Detect Evil and Detect Traps and they head in. However, he wasn't concentrating, so he was unable to spy the nefarious sheet. It drops down on Ramble and envelopes him, as it is known to do. Arben shoots out the trusty old Magic Missile, but ends up hurting Ramble as well. Karp casts Protection From Evil on the luckless caravan guard, but that too fails to force the creature to relenquish it's grip. Out of the darkness appears an evil (and Jewish) looking Sheet Ghoul. It sprays it's acidic snot all over Martialis, wounding him terribly. To top that off, Can casts Burning Hands, catching Martialis in the cross fire. He decides to withdraw. Arben grabs some holy water off of the withdrawing druid and dumps it on the Phantom Sheet. The sheet is still enveloping Ramble, though, and he decides he has to take matters into his own hands. He takes his might Clord and cuts his way out of the sheet, only slightly worse for wear. He tries to keep his roll going and take out the Sheet Ghoul, but it's acidic snot soon injures him to the point where he doesn't feel like fighting anymore. The others soon take care of the ghoul none the less and excitedly start rooting through his pockets.
Who are the real ghouls here?
On his person they find 17 gold pieces (almost equitably distributed among them), a set of theive's tools, a phylactery, some old rations, and a slightly charred manuscript. Everyone is very excited by the manuscript and the important personages it mentinos. They're excited to continue examining this cave, but they need to rest. "It's nice outside. Let's go rest outside," says Martialis.
They lay down outside the cave, excited to pour through the manuscript and heal up, then continue spelunking. This idyllic scene was not to last, however, for, from out of a thicket appears a knot of Killer Frog. "This shouldn't be too bad", they think. Soon the frogs are upon them, however, rending their flesh with their vicious claws and fangs. They quickly take down the already injured Ramble. Arben shoots a few away with his gust of wind dagger, but while his back is turned, four honorless frogs bite the crap out of him. He falls unconscious. Martialis, Karp, and Can fight bravely as the frogs continue to maul them. Ramble graciously binds Arben's wounds, then begins to crawl away back to the cave of The Brown One. Martialis soon falls, not to the claws of his tiny foes, but to his own fighting spirit. The killer frogs got their licks in, sure, but Martialis pressed on while mortally wounded, causing his internal organs to rupture. He collapses. Can and Karp fight on bravely, however, and soon handle the remaining frogs. They wake up Martialis and Arben (who immediately stars yelling about the nature of danger) and they all drag themselves back to the cave of The Brown One to spend the next few days crying.
