Another street urchin, Ninosh made his way through life in Kiev by behaving alternately conniving and pitiful, inspiring charity from people who were primarily paying him to go away. Filled with anger and spite for the parents who abandoned him to return to Poland, he channels it into hatred for everyone around him. Indeed, he has been known to be particularly harsh towards those who pitied him the most, picking the pockets of his most generous patrons since “they can clearly afford it.”

Traveling in the same guttersnipe circles as Rtishche, he managed to ride the boy’s coattails into Gorbun’s company, largely thanks to his own unique brand of whiny persistence and compassion-inspiring wretchedness. Gorbun’s extreme reluctance gave way somewhat after Ninosh proved himself useful as a distraction on several occasions when a burglary started to go south. The three of them developed a routine, acting as fur merchants by day and periodically robbing well-to-do houses along the trade route at night. Ninosh, for his part, was only too happy to tag along, even as far as Chrysopolis. He will do what he must to avoid honest work, and make his petulance felt by anyone around him more fortunate than himself.
