The Danger Gang Beat Sphinges At Their Own Game

After the storm dies down, the Danger Gang heads north to Sphinges Island. Surprisingly, they find it without too much trouble.

They row ashore and too Gyno-Sphinges fly out to greet them. Karl tries to shoot the shit with them for a little while, but Martialis wants to get down to business. He says that he heard they had the Aeolian Bag, and he wants to do what he has to in order to get it. The Sphinges explain that they are authorized by their ruler, the Father Of Terror (a name that simultaneously makes you really want to meet him and never meet him (that's how you know it's a good nickname)) to riddle them for it, that is, if the gang is willing to risk some magic of their own. They agree to put up ten of Karl's Skeleton Arrows and one potion of Shadow Control. This satisfies the Sphinges. They ask the riddle:

"What does Zeus never see, the Father Of Terror rarely see, and you see every day?"

The Sphinges tell them they have three guesses. If they guess, they win. A few ideas are shot around; their betters, their limits, their mortality. They Augery a few and ask Maya the Chicken, none of those seem right. Then Lleryn gets it; their equals. They ask the Sphinges and they tell them that he's correct. They fly off and return with not one, but four Aeolian Bags. They explain that each bag can be used but once, and each bag will blow a strong wind in one of the four cardinal directions, one for each bag. They divvy them up to avoid confusion, Karl gets East, Marty gets North, Can gets West, and Barry gets South. They thank the Sphinges for their time and sail off.

Marty wants to check out this island that Eorl told him about, one they sailed by with two towers. It's on the way. Once nearby, they fly out to the tower. Inside, they find a Mattock Of The Titans. Pretty awesome. They fly it back to the ship.
