The Danger Gang Fights Some Gar...I mean, Margoyles
Feeling well rested, the Danger Gang once more trods off to Cassandrea with the intent to murder that Will-O-Wisp. This time the plan is very simple; hit it. Sure, it's nearly impossible to hit, but, you know, that's life. Once back inside, they start wandering the halls of the Maze of Death (tm). They see it and huck some rocks at it, but it floats away, as if trying to lead them into some trap. They're not buying it, so they head down another hallway. They soon stumble on a small room with a door on the farside. Martialis casts Find Traps, and the door looks clean. Unfortunately, the door is still trapped. A spear on a chain flies out of a hole in the wall behind the door, hitting Marty in the chest. A jolt of electricity then shoots through it. They rip it out of the wall. They head back after the Wisp, because, screw that trap. They start fighting this thing. At first they're doing alright, but they just can't seem to hit the little bastard. Plus that trap he was luring them into goes off; the floor falls out from beneath them and Marty and Gershom fall down into a spiked pit. They pull them out and then begin their strategiv retreat. They end up locking him between two doors. They stone shaped one of the doors shut, then get some rest.
After the rest, they start digging a tunnel around to the other side of the far door, intent on stone shaping that one shut aswell. Unfortunately, something opened it and now it is on the loose again. Whatever. They go back to the Garden of Death (tm) to see if they can find what it was that made Kotrag go crazy. Marty eventual identifies a Fear Weed. He casts Speak with Plants, and the weed tries to convince him that his friends are demons. Marty lights the little jerk on fire. Now the whole garden should be comperably safe. They head through the other exit to the Garden of Death (tm) and there find the Glowing Man. This guy, they're able to handle, using a classic pincer attack. They advance to a nearby room, more rough hewn than the others. They are jumped by a group of Margoyles. This doesn't go as well as their encounter with the glowman, and eventually Marty and Kotrag are the last ones standing against the beast. Even Zahrah had a sudden bought of prudence and decided to not continue fighting once mortally wounded. They pick themselves up and wander back to the Garden of Death where they get a little shut eye.
After a little nap, they decide to see if there's anything that Daemon (who has been dubbed Smitty) can tell them about Phillip IV. They say that if he can tell them where to find ol' Phil's phylactery, and it is there, they'll come back and let him out. Smitty says he's not sure, but he knows that Phil traveled to Ninevah and Damascus. The phylactery might be there. Everyone groans at that news. They Augery on letting him out and get a Woe, so they decide against it. They leave to continue to wander through the Maze of Death.
Back near where they ran into those Margoyles. They hear a little squelching noise and figure they ought to fight it. They kick open the door and find two fleshy cylinders. They start morphing into humanoid forms. Everyone agrees; fuck this. They start fighting these dudes, but these dudes start looking more and more like them; specifically Marty and Kotrag. The one that became Marty subsequently becomes a lion. It seems the Danger Gang is no match for half the Danger Gang. Kotrag versus Kotrag is especially absurd, with his ridiculously-at-opposite-ends-of-the-spectrum thaco and AC. However, thanks to judicious rotation of fighters, a Summon Insects spell, and a well timed backstab, our boys win the day.
They go to track down a place to rest, but run into that damn Will-O-Wisp again. They run away and lock themselves in a room. They bed down for the night.
