Everybody (who's a monster in Samothrace) Must Get Stoned
The Danger Gang wakes up early in the safety of Can's Secure Shelter. Martialis feels this is as good a time as any to find out what's up with Beau, so he casts Speak With Dead. He asks the following three questions:
1. Is it scary being dead?
No, I get to hang out with all those shapey gentlemen.
2. Do you want us to Ressurect you if we can?
Nah, magic is for wimps.
3. What do you want us to do with your body?
Bury me on the mountain.
Everybody shrugs their shoulders. Arben feels like he has to start covering himself with Kotrag around, so he pulls out his old priest collar and tries some of the old razzmatazz. He doesn't try too hard though, cause this never works. It doesn't this time, either. Kotrag doesn't quite seem to buy it. In any case, they all press on. Abner had previously warned them that he had heard some extra large footsteps. Martialis figures its probably a Cyclops, continuing the classical ancient Greek theme. He's right. They enter a big old room and there goes a big old naked cyclops, crying out [{Auxieros]]. That big old eye gets a big old eyefull of the Medusa head, turning it into stone. Everyone laughs and laughs. High fives are all around. They look around the room a little bit. There are cracked open Cabiri bodies, the meat sucked out. They also find a large picture of a Circle emitting all types of crazy ass monsters. "The Circle is the symbol of Auxieros," Arben reminds everyone.
"Hey, wasn't Auxieros really great?" asks Can. Everyone agrees for a second, then shakes it off. They give a quick listen and hear a growling to the north. They figure they can handle it with the trusty old medusa head. The head north and run across a big old Hydra. This baby has nine heads; two of which are quickly turned to stone. Everyone goes after the monster. Zahrah lops off one of the heads, Marty Poisons another. Even old Abner gets ahold of one. Can keeps shooting spells that do no good. Arben convinces him to help him cauterize neck wounds to keep heads from growing back. Abner chops off the last head and they burn closed the remaining neck holes to be on the safe side.
They look around the room and find some runes running around the walls. Arben starts to read them, but then makes a save roll and decides to stop. The only words he could recall were Auxieros and Sanctuary. They then hear some small children calling out, "Auxieros". Everybody down here freaking loves Auxieros. That's when three Leucrottas come from a side hallway. Medusa head and Color Spray take care of them fairly quickly. Same thing with some Cabiri and a Two-Headed Dog. There sure are a lot of monsters in this Dungeon. They find a secret door leading back a chamber where they previously were. This place is ridiculous.
They head back to the rune room, where Marty copies them down. Since he can't read them, he just copies down the shapes, but this also keeps him from being driven mad by their content. They track down Hush, Gershom, and Zahrah, who are all just relaxing, and catch them up with what happened. Can sets up another Secure Shelter and they lay down for a while. Arben starts to feel a little shitty and realizes that he didn't get off quite so easy with that Medusa bite. Marty Neutralizes the poison and they rest some more.
After a few hours, their ready to roll again. This time, Gershom is going to be doing the mapping, because Arben was kind of phoning it in. They tried to convince Abner to do it, but he just handed them a list of coordinates. They run into another Chimera, but polish it off without too much trouble. They see a room to the south of where they fought the Hydra and notice it is packed to the gills with gold. They rub their hands like little bandits. They give a quick listen and hear two distinct sounds; a squelch and a titter. "That titter is probably a nymph. If you guys...I mean, if us guys see her naked, our heads could explode. Especially me cause I love naked ladies." Kotrag nods, approvingly.
It is then that they devise the greatest plan of all time.
Arben holds the medusa head out in front of him and they all walk straight into the room with their eyes closed. They then stand there, waiting for something to happen. Something, indeed, does. Arben is picked up by a giant tentacle and flung around the room. Kotrag and Marty are beaten by a tentacles weilding golden weapons. Gershom finally opens his eyes to see the tittering was coming from a Leucrotta. The tentacles are emerging from beneath pile of gold. This thing starts doing some serious damage, putting a real hurting on the DG and associates. They ae able to cut Arben out of the monster's tentacle and then start beating feet. That is, those that can still walk start beating feet. Soon only Marty and Abner are standing as they run through the halls. Marty switches into Alligator form to take down the Leucrotta that was on our tail, then helps lead everyone into another a room that can be secured. He stone shapes one of the exits.
Then everybody rests and rests and rests.
